Quick Entry

Quick Entry is a Microsoft Great Plains add-on designed to increase the speed of data entry by providing type-ahead functionality for key fields within Great Plains. The fields that have been given type-ahead functionality with Quick Entry are:

• Customer Number
• Vendor ID
• Item Number
• Salesperson ID
• Sales Territory
• Payment Terms
• Shipping Method
• Site ID
• Price Level
• Tax Detail ID
• Tax Schedule ID
• Employee ID
• Buyer ID
• Checkbook ID
• Customer Class
• Vendor Class
• Item Class
• Employee Class

When the user starts to enter characters into the Quick Entry field, the list of values for that field type is examined to find any matches. If a match is found, the remaining characters will be automatically filled and selected. The user can continue typing to find another record or move focus to the next field. If multiple values match the characters that have been entered, the up arrow and down arrow keys can be used to move between the different values.
